Annie Haas

Program Co-Lead, Incubatenergy
Electric Power Research Institute

Annie Haas goes to work every day attempting to answer two questions: 1) What are the enablers of a safe, resilient, environmentally responsible, and economically sustainable future power system; and 2) How can those technologies successfully scale to market? Raised by an inventor and entrepreneur, Annie’s mindset and approach is simple: find solutions to common problems, and don’t hurt anyone doing it. Annie made her transition into the energy sector (from the food industry) in 2009 when she joined the external affairs team at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory working in electricity infrastructure – and she hasn’t looked back. Since that time she has successfully promoted and investigated R&D and technology/enablers in the energy sector through multiple organizations, including her own business, and now at the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), where she managed much of the external communications efforts around EPRI’s Integrated Grid and Electrification special initiatives, and now co-leads the Incubatenergy® Network and Incubatenergy® Labs Challenge programs in EPRI’s Technology Innovation Group with her colleague Erik Steeb. The Labs Challenge brings together a collaboration of utilities with selected startups to address a handful of carefully selected problems through application of their respective products and services in ACCELERATED, real-world demonstration projects.
